Pedestrian Critically Injured After Being Struck By Mercedes-Benz In Brentwood

A pedestrian was critically injured after being hit by a Mercedes-Benz in Brentwood, police said.

The 44-year-old Brentwood man was crossing Washington Avenue north of Clarke Street when he was hit by a 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML430 traveling southbound around 9:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, Suffolk Police said.

The driver, 27-year-old Marlene Coello of Brentwood, called 911 and remained at the scene, according to police.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police say. He was transported via Brentwood Legion ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with critical injuries.

The Mercedes-Benz was impounded for a safety check. Investigations are ongoing.
